John S. Hawkins - President & CEO
Mr. Hawkins is a Southern California native who has over 15 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry. Mr. Hawkins earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Marketing, as well as an MBA, from Santa Clara University.
After spending 10 years in the San Francisco Bay Area working in financial services, high-tech and commodity industries, Mr. Hawkins shifted his career focus to the travel and hospitality industry. From 1985 to 1991, in his various capacities at Princess Cruises, Mr. Hawkins developed strategic and marketing plans for the cruise line, in addition to executing marketing and sales tactics.
In 1991, Mr. Hawkins was invited to San Diego to be part of a management team to "turn-around" the financially troubled SuperShuttle franchise in San Diego. Over a three year period, Mr. Hawkins and his colleagues overcame many obstacles in the "turn-around" process which ultimately culminated in the creation of a whole new entity, Cloud 9 Super Shuttle, which launched on November 1, 1994.
Mr. Hawkins', and Cloud 9's core values are to provide superb customer service, be profitable, and to make a difference in the San Diego community, all the while being extraordinarily safe. Day to day, Mr. Hawkins is responsible for the strategic direction of Cloud 9 Super Shuttle as well as financial leadership and expertise. Mr. Hawkins also conducts the company's corporate and community relations.
Mr. Hawkins is an active member of the San Diego business community. He is Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, Vice Chairman of the Board of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and on the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau, the Holiday Bowl, the San Diego International Sports Council, the Port Tenants Association and the USS MIDWAY Aircraft Carrier Museum. He has served as Chairman of the Corporate Finance Council, and Fleet Week San Diego and is a member of the Downtown Rotary Club.
Mr. Hawkins is single and resides in Point Loma.
